Background

Juan’s Practice focuses on patent prosecution, patent litigation support, patent related opinion work, and transactional matters on diverse range of subject matters and technologies, including telecommunications, artificial intelligence, including machine learning, image recognition, and virtual/augmented reality applications, cybersecurity & data privacy, wireless communication systems and protocols, distributed ledger technologies, aircraft navigation, communication and control systems, semiconductor devices and manufacturing, medical devices, etc.

Patent Prosecution and IP Matters

Juan represents clients in all phases of patent prosecution, from preparing new applications based on invention disclosures to completing the appeals process.  Juan works closely with clients to ensure their patents align with current and projected industry developments, trends, and applicable standards.  Juan also has significant experience assisting clients with development and prosecution of foreign patent portfolios.

Juan also has significant experience performing freedom to operate analysis to assist clients with development of new products and ideas, as well as infringement analysis to protect his client’s existing patent portfolios.

Technical Background

Juan has significant technical experience gained while employed as an electrical engineer and cybersecurity expert for the Department of Defense, and while serving as cybersecurity officer in the U.S. Air Force.
