Carder’s practice focuses on intellectual property procurement and enforcement, primarily before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Carder represents clients in all stages of the patent process, including prosecution, litigation, and post-grant proceedings. Carder also advises clients in trademark matters, technology commercialization, and entity formations, with an emphasis on start-ups.
Before joining Whitaker Chalk, Carder served as General Counsel for GAP Peptides, LLC, a biotechnology company commercializing novel peptide synthesis methodologies to provide peptides for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In addition to building and managing the company’s growing IP portfolio and advising the company on all legal affairs, Carder also actively managed company operations and conducted peptide synthesis research in the company’s state-of-the-art laboratory.
