Tom Harkins has had an active civil litigation and appellate practice for over 23 years. His specific
experience includes: [a] preparing a successful Respondents' Brief in Opposition to Petition for Writ
of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court in a complex computer copyright action; [b] setting a
precedent in bankruptcy law as to the requirement of notice for discharge purposes when a case is converted
from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7 (In re Pannell, 136 B.R. 430 (N.D. Tex.), aff'd without opin. (5th Cir. 1992));
[c] handling trial and mediation work for a church in a dispute over church property in the event of a split;
and [d] multiple appellate briefs, motions and arguments in numerous forums.
Tom's intellectual property law practice has expeanded in recent years. He has worked on a variety of matters, including trademark disputes, bankruptcy and exemption laws, and procedural matters.
