Jerry Sawyer has been practicing civil and commercial litigation law for 25 years. In addition to serving as general counsel for a publicly traded limited partnership from 1982 to 1985, he has represented corporations, professionals and individual entrepreneurs in various industries (construction, trucking, retail food, insurance, insurance brokerage, real estate, health care, etc.) in litigation involving such areas as breach of contract, sexual harassment, civil rights, wrongful foreclosure, partnership accounting, lender liability and property rights.

Mr. Sawyer and his trial team, which includes a forensic psychologist, have also represented families and individuals in lawsuits involving personal injury, wrongful death, products liability and medical malpractice and several multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements have been achieved.

In 1998, the National Law Journal recognized the verdict obtained by Mr. Sawyer in LaCroix v. Denton Regional Medical Center as the seventh largest medical malpractice verdict in the United States in 1994. Based on the informational analysis performed by the National Law Journal article, which traced the results of the largest verdicts in 1994, the LaCroix judgment, plus interest, was more than likely the largest medical malpractice claim paid of the cases tried that year in the United States. Professional journal articles and seminars have, in addition, described LaCroix as a pivotal case in defining corporate liability for hospitals.
